Printing a calendar that looks right
Paper and scaling
The most common printing problem is a mismatch between the paper size chosen here and the paper in the printer. A Letter calendar printed on A4 is shrunk slightly and leaves a wide band at the bottom; an A4 calendar on Letter paper is cut off or shrunk at the sides. Choose the size that is in your printer, and in the print dialog choose “Actual size” or a scale of 100%. The PDF already includes a 30-point (about 1 cm) margin, which suits ordinary office printers.
Month or year?
“One month per page” gives large day boxes for writing in; landscape suits a wall or a fridge, portrait a binder. Twelve months starting in September make an academic year, and you can make up to 24 months at a time. “Year on one page” shows the whole year with holidays marked in red and listed underneath. The “Year planner” puts each month on one row with the weekdays lined up in columns, so you can see a whole year of weekends and holidays at a glance; it always prints landscape.
Holidays
The holiday menu offers the official lists we publish for 17 countries and regions, taken from each government’s own source, for 2026 to 2028, and rule-based holidays (fixed dates, n-th weekdays, Easter) for 2025, 2029 and 2030. Holidays that depend on a lunar calendar or a yearly announcement appear only when officially published. A holiday is printed on the day it is taken, so a Christmas that falls on a Saturday shows the substitute day too.
Week starts and week numbers
US calendars traditionally start the week on Sunday; most European ones on Monday, the first day of the week in ISO 8601. The maker picks a default from your browser’s language and lets you change it. Week numbers follow ISO 8601, in which week 1 contains the first Thursday of January; they make most sense with Monday as the first day, and the number printed beside a row is the week of that row’s Monday. The week number page explains the rules.
Privacy
The calendar is drawn and the PDF built by code running in your browser. Nothing you choose or type is sent to a server, and the events you enter are kept only in this page’s address. Bookmark or share the address to reopen the same calendar later.
What the PDF contains
The file is a vector PDF using the standard Helvetica fonts, so it stays sharp at any size and is small, typically a few kilobytes per page. Accented letters such as é are kept; characters outside the Western European set are replaced, so use Latin letters in titles and events.
For a calendar to look at rather than print, the calendar shows any month on screen, and each year page, such as the 2027 calendar, lists its holidays and key dates.
