GMT to PST for every hour
Each PST column holds for part of the year (dates in the header for 2027). The first uses the fixed offsets (GMT UTC+0, PST UTC−8); the others give local clock time when daylight saving time changes the gap. Until 8:00 AM GMT, PST is still on the previous calendar day.

Does the difference change during the year?
As written, no: GMT is always UTC+0 and PST is always UTC−8, so the gap is 8 hours on every date. But the UK uses GMT only in winter and Los Angeles uses PST only in winter, and people often keep writing “GMT” when they mean the local time. Between the local clocks of the UK and Los Angeles, the gap is 8 hours or 7 hours:
| From | What changes | The UK | Los Angeles | PST vs GMT |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January 1 | Start of the year | GMT (UTC+0) | PST (UTC−8) | −8 h |

Converting GMT to PST by hand
With the fixed offsets, take away 8 hours: 3:30 PM GMT is 7:30 AM PST.
With the −7 h gap (Mar 14 – Mar 28, Oct 31 – Nov 7), take away 7 hours: 3:30 PM GMT is 8:30 AM PST.
Going back from PST to GMT, do the opposite: the PST to GMT page has its own table.
Where the GMT and PST working days overlap
GMT to PST (−8 h): Two 9:00–17:00 days do not overlap at all. To meet between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM on both sides, start at 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM GMT (7:00 AM to 1:00 PM PST).
−7 h (from Mar 14 to Mar 28 and Oct 31 to Nov 7, 2027): Two 9:00–17:00 days share 1 hour: 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM GMT, which is 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM PST. That is tight. Put a recurring call at the start of the window, so a meeting that runs late does not push it out.
A meeting fixed in one city’s calendar moves by an hour for the other when the gap changes. Calendar apps handle this when the event is saved in a named zone (for example Europe/London) rather than as a fixed offset.
What GMT and PST mean
Greenwich Mean Time
GMT is UTC+0. For conversions it equals UTC: the two have stayed within 0.9 seconds of each other, so they agree unless fractions of a second matter. The UK uses GMT only in winter; in summer it is on BST, UTC+1.
Pacific Standard Time
PST is UTC−8: winter time in California, Washington, Oregon and Nevada (and Baja California). British Columbia no longer uses it: since 2026 Vancouver stays on UTC−7 all year.
PST can also mean Philippine Standard Time (UTC+8, the Philippines). This page uses Pacific Standard Time, the meaning people searching for this conversion have in mind. For another one, type the city into the time zone converter.
