PST to GMT for every hour
Each GMT column holds for part of the year (dates in the header for 2027). The first uses the fixed offsets (PST UTC−8, GMT UTC+0); the others give local clock time when daylight saving time changes the gap. From 4:00 PM PST, GMT is already on the next calendar day.

Does the difference change during the year?
As written, no: PST is always UTC−8 and GMT is always UTC+0, so the gap is 8 hours on every date. But Los Angeles uses PST only in winter and the UK uses GMT only in winter, and people often keep writing “PST” when they mean the local time. Between the local clocks of Los Angeles and the UK, the gap is 8 hours or 7 hours:
| From | What changes | Los Angeles | The UK | GMT vs PST |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January 1 | Start of the year | PST (UTC−8) | GMT (UTC+0) | +8 h |
| March 8 | Los Angeles moves to PDT (UTC−7) | PDT (UTC−7) | GMT (UTC+0) | +7 h |

Converting PST to GMT by hand
With the fixed offsets, add 8 hours: 3:30 PM PST is 11:30 PM GMT.
With the +7 h gap (Mar 14 – Mar 28, Oct 31 – Nov 7), add 7 hours: 3:30 PM PST is 10:30 PM GMT.
Going back from GMT to PST, do the opposite: the GMT to PST page has its own table.
Where the PST and GMT working days overlap
PST to GMT (+8 h): Two 9:00–17:00 days do not overlap at all. To meet between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM on both sides, start at 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM PST (3:00 PM to 9:00 PM GMT).
+7 h (from Mar 14 to Mar 28 and Oct 31 to Nov 7, 2027): Two 9:00–17:00 days share 1 hour: 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM PST, which is 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM GMT. That is tight. Put a recurring call at the start of the window, so a meeting that runs late does not push it out.
A meeting fixed in one city’s calendar moves by an hour for the other when the gap changes. Calendar apps handle this when the event is saved in a named zone (for example America/Los_Angeles) rather than as a fixed offset.
What PST and GMT mean
Pacific Standard Time
PST is UTC−8: winter time in California, Washington, Oregon and Nevada (and Baja California). British Columbia no longer uses it: since 2026 Vancouver stays on UTC−7 all year.
PST can also mean Philippine Standard Time (UTC+8, the Philippines). This page uses Pacific Standard Time, the meaning people searching for this conversion have in mind. For another one, type the city into the time zone converter.
Greenwich Mean Time
GMT is UTC+0. For conversions it equals UTC: the two have stayed within 0.9 seconds of each other, so they agree unless fractions of a second matter. The UK uses GMT only in winter; in summer it is on BST, UTC+1.
