Any other number works too: type it in the calculator, or put it in the address, as in /days-from-today/1000/.
How counting days from today works
“N days from today” is today’s date plus N calendar days. Today is day 0, tomorrow is day 1, and every day counts the same: Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays included. So 7 days from a Monday is the next Monday, and 30 days from today is Thursday, December 3, 2026. Nothing about months enters the count, which is why the answer never depends on whether a month has 30 or 31 days.
This is the same rule courts and contracts in many countries use for periods in days. The US Federal Rules of Civil Procedure put it in three steps: exclude the day of the event that starts the period, count every day including weekends and holidays, and include the last day (Rule 6(a)(1)). The court rule then adds a fourth step that ordinary date counting does not: a deadline that lands on a weekend or legal holiday moves to the next working day.
Exclusive and inclusive counting
The most common mistake is counting today as day 1. On a calendar it feels natural to put a finger on today and count from there, but that “inclusive” count ends one day earlier. Both conventions exist, so it helps to know which one you need:
- Exclusive (the default here): the start day is day 0. “Within 14 days”, “net 30”, “valid for 90 days” and most deadlines work this way.
- Inclusive: the start day is day 1, so the period covers N days in total, start day included. Hotel stays counted in days rather than nights, leave days and some course schedules work like this.
To get an inclusive date from this calculator, enter one less: for 10 days counted inclusively, enter 9. Days between two dates has an option to include the end date for the opposite question.
Days are not months
Thirty days and one month are different spans. One month after Sunday, January 31, 2027 is the last day of February (Sunday, February 28, 2027), because there is no 31 February; 30 days after the same date is Tuesday, March 2, 2027. Spreadsheets, programming languages and this site all handle “add a month” this way, by keeping the day of the month and falling back to the month’s last day when it does not exist. If a document says “30 days”, count days; if it says “one month”, use the calendar date. The two can be up to two days apart (a month is 28 to 31 days), and over a year “365 days” and “one year” differ by one day whenever a 29 February falls in between.
Weekends, holidays and business days
Calendar days ignore what kind of day each one is. When a deadline is stated in business days or working days, weekends and public holidays are skipped instead, and the result can be weeks later: 30 days from today is Thursday, December 3, 2026, but 30 business days is Tuesday, December 15, 2026. Set the unit to “business days” and choose a country to skip its public holidays too. The business days from today page explains those rules.
Time zones and midnight
“Today” depends on where you are. The dates on this site follow your device’s time zone and change at your local midnight, so the page stays right if you leave it open overnight. Someone in Tokyo or Sydney may already be a day ahead of someone in New York, and their “30 days from today” is one day later for the same reason. Clock changes for daylight saving time do not move a date: a span of 30 days is 30 days even if one of them has 23 or 25 hours.
Doing it by hand or in a spreadsheet
By hand, the quickest way is through the day of the year. Friday, October 15, 2027 is day 288 of 2027; adding 90 gives 378, which is past 365, so subtract 365: day 13 of 2028, which is Thursday, January 13, 2028. Watch for leap years when you cross the end of February. Calculators like this one give every date a running day number (the Julian Day Number), so adding days is plain addition and leap years take care of themselves.
In Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice, =TODAY()+90 gives the date 90 days from today once the cell is formatted as a date. =WORKDAY(TODAY(),30) skips weekends (and an optional list of holidays), and =EDATE(TODAY(),3) adds calendar months with the same end-of-month rule as above.
Popular day counts
The most searched counts are four weeks and round numbers: 28 days, 90 days, 60 days, 30 days and 14 days. Each has its own page with the weekday, week number, quarter and holidays of the date, and how that span relates to weeks and months. Counting backwards is on days ago, and whole weeks on weeks from today.
