About Halloween
Halloween is October 31, the evening before All Saints’ Day on November 1. From 2027 to 2036 it falls on a Saturday or Sunday in 2027 and 2032, which matters for parties and trick-or-treating, since the date never moves.
It is not a public holiday in any of the countries we track, so the date is the same everywhere and there is no observed day. All Saints’ Day itself is a public holiday in France and Spain.
In 2027, Halloween is a Sunday. In the European Union clocks go back in the early hours of Halloween itself (01:00 UTC); in the United States they go back on Sunday, November 7.
How the countdown works
The countdown runs to midnight at the start of Halloween in your time zone, so the day count drops by one at your midnight and reaches zero on the day itself. It uses your device’s time zone and our server-corrected clock, so it stays right even if your device clock is a few seconds off. The day after Halloween, the page moves on to the next year’s date by itself.
“Sleeps” is the number of nights left, the way children count: on the evening before the day it is one sleep.
